Hi @tomkaga,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP LaserJet MFP M140we is not printing after you replaced the toner cartridge and the orange exclamation mark is blinking, it generally indicates a hardware issue or incorrect installation of the toner. Here are the steps to resolve this problem:

1. Check the Toner Cartridge Installation

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the toner compartment and carefully remove the toner cartridge.
  • Inspect the toner for any packaging material (like plastic tabs, protective tape, or seals) that may not have been removed.
  • Ensure that the toner cartridge is the correct model for the HP LaserJet MFP M140we.
  • Reinsert the toner cartridge firmly into place, ensuring it clicks into position.
  • Close the printer cover properly.

2. Check for Jammed Paper or Debris

  • While the printer is off, check for any paper jams or debris inside the paper tray and toner compartment.
  • Remove any torn paper or debris that could cause the error.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, then unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the orange exclamation mark still blinks.

4. Verify the Toner Cartridge Model

  • Ensure the toner cartridge you installed is the correct one for your printer model.
  • The HP LaserJet MFP M140we uses HP 141A or HP 142A toner cartridges. If you've installed a different or non-genuine cartridge, it might trigger the error.

5. Update Firmware (If Possible)

  • If your printer powers on normally but still won’t print, try updating the printer firmware:
    • Go to the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your HP LaserJet MFP M140we.
    • Install any updates using the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @tomkaga ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Check for Low Toner Warnings (If New Cartridge)

  • Although you've just replaced the toner, the printer might not recognize it correctly.
  • Try a new toner cartridge if possible, as there could be an issue with the one you installed.

7. Printer Control Panel/HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or phone and check for any additional error messages or notifications.
  • The app may provide more details about why the orange exclamation mark is blinking.

Summary of Steps:

  1. Reinstall the toner cartridge, ensuring it's seated correctly.
  2. Check for paper jams or debris.
  3. Perform a printer reset by unplugging and restarting.
  4. Ensure you are using the correct toner model (HP 141A or HP 142A).
  5. Update printer firmware if possible.
  6. Try a different new toner cartridge if available.
  7. Check the HP Smart app for more details.
  8. Contact HP Support if the issue persists.

Let me know if you need further assistance after trying these steps!

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there could be a hardware fault. At this point, you may need to contact HP Phone  Support for further diagnostics or possible repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
