My HP Laserjet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP says invalid WPA passphrase when I enter the correct one and in the past it has never had this issue until I tried connecting to my new WiFi at my new home after moving.

Hi @AngelBear21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP is showing an "invalid WPA passphrase" error when trying to connect to your new WiFi network, this typically indicates an issue with the WiFi password or network settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
**1. Verify WPA Passphrase
Double-Check the Passphrase:
- Ensure you are entering the correct WPA passphrase. Passphrases are case-sensitive, so check for any typos or incorrect capitalization.
- Verify the passphrase by checking your router’s settings or documentation.
Check WiFi Network Type:
- Ensure that your WiFi network uses WPA or WPA2 encryption, as your printer may not support WPA3. If your network is set to WPA3, you may need to change it to WPA2.
**2. Reconnect to the Network
Reconfigure Wireless Setup:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless or Network settings.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect to your WiFi network.
- When prompted, carefully re-enter the WPA passphrase.
Restart the Printer and Router:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- Once the router is fully rebooted, turn the printer back on and attempt to reconnect to the WiFi network.
**3. Update Printer Firmware
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
- Download and install any available firmware updates for your HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw. Firmware updates can fix connectivity issues and improve network compatibility.
Update Using HP Software:
- If you have the HP software installed on your computer, use it to check for firmware updates and apply them.
**4. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):
- If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can try connecting your printer using this method. On the printer’s control panel, select Wireless > WPS (or Wi-Fi Protected Setup).Follow the on-screen instructions and press the WPS button on your router within a few minutes to establish a connection.
**5. Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless or Network settings.Look for an option to Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings and select it.This will reset the printer’s network settings and allow you to reconfigure the connection.
**6. Check Router Settings
- Log in to your router’s web interface (usually accessible via a web browser by entering the router’s IP address).
- Check the WPA/WPA2 settings and ensure that the passphrase is correctly configured and matches what you are entering on the printer.
- Ensure that your router is broadcasting on a compatible frequency band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) that your printer supports. Most older printers are compatible with 2.4 GHz networks.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
