Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer just won't reconfigure to the wireless network.

I bought my HP Laserjet Pro M12w printer second hand and successfully configured it to the wireless network on the first try.
Weeks later, during the night, the not so active green flashing light beside the almost complete circle symbol was annoying me. So I tried turning it off and accidentally pressed the wireless button, then found the power button and turned it off.

In the morning, the printer no longer connected to the network, so I tried reinstalling/reconfiguring with the "hp_LJPM11-M13_Full_Solution-v20180815-10229428_1" drivers, selected the recommended settings, always to no avail. It always fails on the last step, when it calls the IP from the printer.

I feel like I've tried everything that would possibly remedy this issue, including:

  • Holding the X and the Wireless button as the printer is turning on, factory resetting the printer.
  • Testing that it's factory reset through the config sheet showing all IPs as Zero. 0.0.0.0,
  • Unplugging, then plugging the printer back in.
  • Moving the router closer to the printer.
  • unpacking the driver before installing
  • Then Uninstalling the driver, resting the PC, then trying to reconfigure the wireless with the driver.
  • Turning off my firewall

It always errors on the last step when getting the IP from the printer, and the following error message:

"A connection between the printer and the wireless network was successfully established using the specified wireless login data. This computer cannot communicate with the printer.

Make sure that the printer is on the same network as the computer; if using WEP, check that the credentials have been entered correctly. Then try again."  (the error message is translated from german)

Why is the printer suddenly not wanting to get configured with the network?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi @createataco,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, but let's see if we can find a solution. Here are some additional steps you can try.

  • Check Wireless Settings: Make sure your printer's wireless settings match those of your wireless router. Double-check the SSID (network name) and password.
  • Manual Configuration: Instead of using the automatic setup, try manually entering your wireless network settings into the printer. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel.
  • Restart Router and Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your router and printer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait a few minutes, and then turn them back on.
  • Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router settings are compatible with the printer's requirements. For example, check if MAC address filtering or any other security settings might be blocking the printer.
  • Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your printer instead of using DHCP. This can sometimes provide more stable connectivity.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware might address compatibility issues or bugs related to wireless connectivity.

Given that you've already tried quite a few steps, it's possible there may be a hardware issue with the printer itself. However, exhaust these troubleshooting steps first before considering that possibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
