HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Since I've changed my Wifi, my printer dropped off form the network, I completely forgot bout this and was using it with USB, but recently when I wanted to add it back, I came across the admin password prompt, that I don't recall setting up.

I've tried soft reset, all possible combinations of pressing and holding buttons, mobile app, PC app, WiFi direct, and even WPS option... all of those tries miserabely failed.

I believe that the NVRAM has to be reset, but turns out that this is a bigger secret than the coca-cola exact recipe or KFC herbs mixture used for their chicken.

Any other model, yes... lots of info tutorials, or 10-second videos of people pressing 3 buttons and the corner of the screen, and it's done...

For this model? Nothing, only responses on forums always end up with "if that won't work let me know I will pm you the instructions" .... and are followed by 43 messages like "oh god I have got the same problem, please help!"

Is there any chance that somebody more experienced in this area could kindly help me with getting this lovely printer back to it's "Wirelessness times"? 😄

Have a killer day, Dex

Unfortunetely @echolake provided totally unrelated instruction on how to reset NVRAM on some other printer (that has a display)

And the ultimate solution was :

  • Step 1. Open link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
  • Step 2. Sign in / sign in as a guest
  • Step 3. Enter the product number or select to auto-detect
  • Step 4. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
  • Step 5. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and the phone number appear.
  • Keep me posted on further assistance. Hope that helps!

Note: Out of warranty product repair will cost.

So to sum up, I would have to pay again to be able to use the feature (WIFI) that I have paid for.

BROTHER it is the next time, now time to crack it open, and try to reset the NVRAM 😄

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Use the EWS to manually set an IPv4 address, subnet mask, and default gateway.

  • 1. Open the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS):
  • a. Print a confiJurDtLon page to determine the IP address or hostname. i. Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button until the Ready light begins blinking. ii. Release the Resume/Cancel button.
  • b. Open a web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or hostname exactly as it displays on the printer confiJurDtLon page. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.
  • NOTE: If the web browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.
  • 2. On the Networking tab, click the IPv4 &onfiJ Method in the left navigation pane.
  • 3. From the IP Preferred Address Method drop-down, select Manual, and then edit the IPv4 confiJurDtLon settings.
  • 4. Click the Apply button.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Anything other than supplies ends up with this magic box.

Thank you for posting back.

Method one:
Perform wireless network diagnostic tests using the EWS
1. Open the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS): a. Print a configuration page to determine the IP address or hostname.

i. Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button until the Ready light begins blinking.

ii. Release the Resume/Cancel button.

b. Open a web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or hostname exactly as it displays on the printer configuration page. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.

NOTE: If the displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.

2. Select the Networking tab.

3. On the Wireless &onfiJurDtLon page, verify that the On option is selected.

4. Click the Print Test Report button to print a test page that shows test results.

Method two:

Perform a wireless network diagnostic test using the printer control panel ▲ From the printer control panel, press and hold the wireless button for 20 seconds.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I am able to log in to the web pannel but it is password protected, I'm unable to change anything. From what I see any suggested already solutions fail on this one, the one I'm looking to try is the one that says clear the NVRAM, would you be able to assist on this? I've tried with the app, with the web interface, and any settings related to the network/wifi are password-protected, and this password is not the WPS password, nor does it allow me to connect with WPS to the new network.

When I load the pannel, all the options are there :

But when I try to change anything I end up with :

Even with wireless on, using the app, I was able to point it at the new wireless network, but the last step needed to be confirmed with the password, so it failed.

Ended up with the usual :
