Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I am setting up new to my laptop and I go through the HP app, but when I get to part where it wants to add to my device it disconnects from the internet using its own internet item and then gives error that it cannot connect to the internet.  What is the problem - super frustrating.  I try to go in and change the wireless to one I use but it gets kicked off as soon as I try again

I found some videos that might make it easier

 

Watch the reset video. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.

Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.

Or simply use Wi-Fi direct.

If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing.

This is useful if you do not have access to the router or you want to bypass the router and print directly to the printer..

Simple push button or WPS setup is described on page 6 of User Manuall. You have 2 minutes to get back to the printer after pushing the button on the modem / router.

thanks for feedback.  What I did learn via tech support (super frustrating to get a phone number - which is 866-684-3514) is this:  I kept getting kicked off internet and tech had me add hp smart app on my iphone and then I was able to authenticate.  It did have some bumps along the way - we just restarted the app and tried again - and in the end after a few tries, I was able to get it authenticated via the phone...  then went back to the hpsmart app on my laptop and added the device and I was up and running.  super frustrating and not sure if it had to do with settings (work computer) or just what was giving me grief - but in the end, it is now up and running and working seamlessly.

I am glad you got it working.  Some advice:  If you ever add boosters or wi-fi repeaters the printer may randomly connect to one then to another the next day or hour or even minute. If so, the router needs to a fixed IP address rather than the booster or repeater providing it's own random IP address.
