Hello,
I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw all in one product. The Network Summary report lists the Administrator Password as "Specified." I have no record of setting an Administrator password. If I did set a password, then how do I change it?
I want to update the IP address to the new provider address. When attempting to get to the screen to configure the new Network name, I am prompted to provide the Wi-Fi Direct Password. There is a numerical password listed on the Network Summary report. When I enter the number, the printer returns the message: "Password is invalid."
I have the same experience when attempting to install printer software updates. The system prompts me to enter the Admin password. I enter the only "password" that I can find, the Wi-fi Direct Password and get the same result: "Password is Invalid."
How can I resolve the condition?
Thank you, christina

Hi @cforakis,
I'd like to help!
We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hello Jay_G24,
This worked great. I am now able to connect my laptop to the printer and print from my laptop. Thank you!
On July 16, 2021, I replied to a second inquiry and indicated a lack of success. That was incorrect and I apologize for the error.
Thank you,
christina
