Printer keeps disconnecting from WiFi after each time I print. If I need to print, I have to press the wifi button and then it will connect. It immediately turns back off once I am done printing. I don't want to have to walk over to the printer each time I want to print a document. Here are the things I have tried so far:
1. Unplugging the printer and waiting 60 seconds (it is plugged into the wall, not a power strip)
2. Updated the firmware
3. Downloaded the HP Smart app... but I can't do anything on it because it always says the printer is offline. I can't change any sort of settings because it won't connect. It also exits out any time I try to click on anything.
4. Printed a Wireless Network Test Report. It says it has not disconnected from the wifi at all in the last 24 hours, signal is excellent
I am on the same wifi network as the printer. It just goes to sleep immediately after printing. Please help before I throw this printer out the window.

Hi @asdlfjlkj,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
You have certainly done a great job performing those steps.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
Try to print.
Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
Find the printer IP address to assign it manually.
Load plain paper in the input tray.
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Resume button for 3 seconds.
A Network Summary prints.
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.
