I do not use my printer often but every time I go to use it, the computer says the printer is offline. The printer says it is connected to the same network as my PC. The past several times I have gone to use the printer, I have had to uninstall and reinstall. Help! Please. Quite annoying.

Hi @TimBash
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e printer keeps showing offline on your Windows 10 PC even though it says it is connected to the same network, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is turned on and connected to the correct network. Verify this by checking the network settings directly on the printer's control panel.
Restart Devices: Turn off your printer, PC, and router. Wait for about a minute, then turn them back on one by one, starting with the router. Once everything is powered up, see if the printer status changes from offline to online.
Set Printer Online:
- Open the Devices and Printers window by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Locate your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e printer.
- Right-click the printer icon and select See what's printing.
- In the window that opens, click Printer from the menu bar.
- Ensure Use Printer Offline is not checked.
Update Printer Driver: Make sure you are using the latest printer driver. You can download and install updates from the HP Support website.
Set Printer to DHCP: Set the printer to use DHCP to ensure it gets a dynamic IP address compatible with your network setup.
Firewall and Security Software: Temporarily disable firewall or security software to see if they are blocking printer communications. Ensure that exceptions are added for your printer.
Re-add the Printer:
- Remove the printer from Devices and Printers.
- Re-add it by going to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
Check Network Connection: Ensure that there is a stable network connection. Use a wireless network test report from the printer’s control panel to identify issues.
Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your printer. This ensures that the IP address remains consistent even after network resets.
- Go to the printer’s control panel > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > IP Settings.
- Set the IP manually.
Reinstall Printer Software: As a last resort, uninstall the printer software entirely through Settings > Apps and then reinstall it using the latest software from HP’s website.
