Hi All,

I'm having trouble trying to connect my HP officejet 4643 to a new netgear router.

Printer can see the network and i can type in the passwordd, but fails to connect

Please see the error report from the printer.

Is this due to the WIFI secuity being set to WPA2-Personal(ASE) +WPA3 -Personal ?

Hi @Johnfen1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Security Settings:

  • Log in to your router settings and check if it's set to use both WPA2-Personal and WPA3-Personal. Try switching to WPA2-Personal only to see if that resolves the issue.

Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • Reset the network settings on your printer. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
  • Go to the printer's control panel and navigate to the network settings. Look for an option to restore network defaults or similar and reset the network settings.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your router.

Re-enter Network Credentials:

  • Ensure you are entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password without any typos.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer that might improve connectivity with newer router technologies.

Move Printer Closer to Router:

  • Ensure the printer is within range of the Wi-Fi signal and there are minimal obstructions between the printer and the router.
  1. Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • On the printer control panel, go to the wireless setup wizard.
    • Select your network from the list of available networks.
    • Enter your network password.

Using HP Smart App

  1. Using HP Smart App:
    • Download and install the HP Smart App from the App Store or Play Store.
    • Open the HP Smart App and select “Set Up a New Printer.”
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Advanced Settings

  1. Router Configuration:
    • Log into your router's web interface (typically found at an IP address like 192.168.1.1).
    • Navigate to wireless settings and change the security mode to WPA2-Personal only.
    • Save changes and restart the router.

I hope this helps.
