@gldcmsd, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Slow Printing on HP OfficeJet 5258!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It can be frustrating when your printer suddenly starts taking an excessive amount of time to print. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
Check Printer Settings
- Print Quality: Ensure your print quality settings are not set to the highest step (e.g., Best or Maximum DPI) as these settings can significantly slow down printing.
- Press the Home button on your printer’s touchscreen.
- Go to Setup > Preferences > Print Quality and make sure it is set to Normal.
Update Printer Firmware
- Firmware Update: Ensure that the printer firmware is up to date.
- Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads and input your printer model to find the latest firmware update.
- Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
Clear Print Queue
- Print Queue: Check and clear any stuck print jobs in the print queue.
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP OfficeJet 5258 and select See what's printing.
- Delete any pending print jobs.
Network Check
- Network Connection: If you are using a network connection, check your network settings.
- Ensure that your printer is connected to a stable network.
- Restart your router to refresh the connection.
Change Connection Type
- Connection Type: If you are using Wi-Fi, try connecting the printer via a USB cable.
- This can sometimes resolve issues with slow printing.
Perform a Printer Reset
- Printer Reset: Perform a full reset on your printer.
- Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
