HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer - H711n

My HP Officejet 6700 printer will not link to the new Hitron Model CODA4589 router that was just installed by Cogeco. I contacted Cogeco tech and aftetr 1 1/2 hrs they gave up and told me to go to the HP site. After doing all that was recommended, still no link. I did a “Wireless Network Test“ and everything is ok with the exception that the “Settings” indicate “Filtering” failed. Would appreciate someone telling me what to do

Many thanks, Alden4 for your suggestion.  Will keep your comments on file should I require a wireless link for my new printer (when I buy one  !!) I decided to just use the USB cable to make my connection and all is well now. Really  appreciate you quick reply.

Hi @Wellgo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a compatibility issue between your HP Officejet 6700 printer and the new Hitron Model CODA4589 router. The "Filtering" failed message indicates that there might be some sort of security setting on the router preventing the printer from connecting.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Disable MAC Address Filtering: Some routers have a feature called MAC address filtering, which only allows devices with specific MAC addresses to connect to the network. Make sure MAC address filtering is disabled on your router, or add the MAC address of your printer to the allowed devices list.
  • Check Wireless Security Settings: Ensure that the wireless security settings on your router (such as WPA2 or WPA3) match the settings configured on your printer. If they don't match, you may need to update the security settings on either the printer or the router to make them compatible.
  • Update Router Firmware: Make sure that your router's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with certain devices. You can usually update the firmware through the router's administration interface.
  • Restart Devices: Try restarting both your printer and router. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues by resetting the network connections.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: If all else fails, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer and reconfiguring the wireless connection from scratch. Consult your printer's manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to do this.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and get your HP Officejet 6700 printer connected to your new Hitron router.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
