Hi @charlessmith12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet printer is showing as "offline," even though it is connected to your computer wirelessly and the printer is powered on. You can follow these troubleshooting steps:

Check Wireless Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer's wireless (Wi-Fi) feature is turned on. If the printer has a wireless light indicator, it should be lit.
  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your computer.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both the printer and the wireless router.
  • After a few seconds, turn on the router first, followed by the printer. This can help refresh the network connection.

Check Printer Status on the Computer:

  • For Windows:
    • Go to the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP printer icon and select See what's printing.
    • In the Printer menu, ensure that Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are not selected.

  • For Mac OS:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and check the Print Queue to ensure jobs are not paused, or the printer shows as offline.

Run a Wireless Test Report:

  • Access your printer’s control panel, and print a Wireless Network Test Report. This report will provide recommendations if any issues are detected.

Firewall Settings:

  • Temporarily disable your computer's firewall to determine if it is blocking the printer communication. If the printer goes online without the firewall, you will need to adjust firewall settings to allow printer communication.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit Official HP® Support to download the latest updates for your printer model.

Set as Default Printer:

  • Ensure that your HP printer is set as the default printer on your computer:
    • In Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Set as Default Printer.

    • On a Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and ensure your printer is selected as the default.

      I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
