Hi @KateV2,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 skips lines or segments, it could be due to ink issues, clogged printheads, or misalignment.

Here are steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Even though you re-inked the cartridges, make sure they are properly seated and not too low. If they are aftermarket or refilled cartridges, there might be issues with compatibility or quality.
  • Go to HP Smart or the printer settings to check the ink levels.

2. Print a Test Page

  • Print a test page to check if the issue persists. This can help diagnose if the problem is widespread or related to specific documents.

3. Run the Printhead Cleaning Tool

  • Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click your printer and select Printing Preferences.
  • Go to the Maintenance or Service tab, then select Clean Printhead.
  • You might need to run this a few times for it to fully clear any blockages.

4. Align Printheads

  • From the same Maintenance or Service tab, run the Align Printheads utility to make sure the printheads are properly aligned.

5. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware and drivers are up to date by going to HP’s website and downloading the latest versions for your printer.

6. Check for Paper and Debris

  • Ensure there's no paper debris or dust inside the printer that might interfere with the printing.

Hello Gaya1239,

I am not experiencing a printing problem, but a WiFi connection problem. Can you please provide a phone number to call support?
