Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

Switched to a new modem and wireless router.  Now the printer won't connect to the wireless network.  The "report" for the issues shows this information:

ISSUE:  Your HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router.  MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router which can prevent your HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup.

HP SOLUTION:  If MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing.

Any advice?  Thank you.

Click here for network setup using HP Smart but in a different language

You may need to reset the printer: video here

WiFi setup to router: video here at 8;40 for wifi

For WiFi direct setup click here.
This is useful if there is no modem or you do not want to give someone access to your modem but you want to let them print something.

Simple push button or WPS setup is described 56 seconds into this video. This is the pushbotton connect where you do not need a password.

Printer Reference 8620e, and Users manual

Let me know if you have a flex system (WiFi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated.

The new router does not have WPS capability.  It is a W1700K wireless router(providing Wifi 7), provided to us by Quantum Fiber.  I believe it works in conjunction with a K1701 pod.  Do you think uninstalling the printer from the computer and then re-installing might have any possibility of getting the printer to connect to the new Wifi?

HP Recommended

You have a so called flex system.  The printer gets its IP address through the pod and the pod gets it from the DHCP server in the main modem

It is likely the printer is getting a different IP address when it reconnects after waking up from sleeping. I looked at the reference FAQ here and there is only one SSID so you are on the same subnet unless I am mistaken..

Connect the printer to the modem over wifi.   Get a network report from the printer so you know its Mac and IP address.  Log into the modem, look for the Mac address of the printer and assigned the IP address as fixed.

Alternately use WiFi direct from your devices direct to the printer.  The printer works only on the 2.4ghz band.

I was unable to find a forum or community for Quantum fiber.  There is support here but no place to ask questions like here.

A discussion over at reddit indicated a problem with the "guard" which I assume is a firewall.

l assume all the other devices work fine,  just the printer is not working.  All the devices (including the printer) should be able to get out on the Internet the problem is to get to printer from a PC,  you have to go to the router and then go back to the printer.

A typical network report from a printer is below

Get a printer network report. The PINs and Passwords should show up. Here is the important stuff from a typical printer report. The password shown in WiFi can be the printers PIN or the modem's password depending on how you connected to the modem. The printer can have two bands but the only ones that are connected will show up.

LANSTATUSIP addressSSIDPassword

WiFi-directenabled192.168.23.1DIRECT-WHATEVERBadGuess
Wireddisabled
USBdisabled

Your PCs and Apple Macs should be on the subnet 192.168.1.x to be able to find the printer

Alternately if your other devices can work at 2.4ghz then they can use WiFi direct to 192.168.23.1 or whatever the printer has for its local WiFi signal.

Check one of your PCs and verify it is on the same subnet as the printer

Using the windows command prompt, copy and paste the following into the CMD window

ipconfig | find /i "ipv4"

should look something like the below

Maybe before you read further, this might be a more appropriate question.  The serial number starts out with CN5.  From other info that I've researched, the "5" should indicate that the printer was manufactured in 2015.  If that is true, has the "shelf life" of the printer come to an end and I should go purchase a new one?

So sorry for asking these questions, however, all of the ideas you presented in your response are beyond my skill level.  You use the term "modem".  Is that truly the "modem" and not the wireless router?

Second, you mentioned that the printer is getting its info from the "pod".  From the little that I know about this network setup, the W1700k is the wireless router.  Is this considered a "pod" as well?  If not, is the W1701k pod truly the "pod"?

How do you make the printer talk directly to the modem and not the wireless router?

That is called WIFi direct.

Alternately use WiFi direct from your devices direct to the printer.  The printer works only on the 2.4ghz band.

Put the printer in wifi direct mode and have your Apple or PC look for the printer's SSID and make a connection to the printer

It may be easier to just connect the printer using an ethernet cable to the W1701K pod you mentioned. I did not find K1701 so I assume you meant W1701K

Connect the print to one of the two wired connectors at the bottom.

Make sure you disable wifi  (and USB on the printer if you have the optional USB connectivit)

You may still have to log into the modem / router to ensure that the printer gets the same IP address each time it turns on or wakes up.
