I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 that all of a sudden refuses to print Google Docs with Windows 11. How do I fix this? I have reinstalled the printer, ensured drivers are up to date, and it still won't work unless I convert to a PDF.

Hi @danjcon

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your OfficeJet Pro 9010 isn’t printing Google Docs directly—it’s frustrating when something that used to work suddenly stops cooperating. Let’s walk through a few steps to restore smooth printing from Google Docs on Windows 11.

1. Use the HP App Instead of HP Smart

  • If you were previously using HP Smart, switch to the HP App, which is now the updated platform.
  • Download it from the Microsoft Store:
    HP App – Microsoft Store

2. Check Default Print Settings in Google Docs

  • Open your Google Doc in Chrome.
  • Press Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.
  • In the Destination section, make sure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 is selected—not “Save as PDF” or “Microsoft Print to PDF”.
  • Click More settings and confirm paper size, margins, and scale are appropriate.

3. Use System Print Dialog Instead of Chrome’s

  • In the Chrome print preview, click “Print using system dialog” at the bottom.
  • This opens the Windows print interface, which may bypass browser-specific issues.

4. Clear Chrome’s Print Cache

  • Open Chrome and go to:
    chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  • Select Cached images and files, then click Clear data.
  • Restart Chrome and try printing again.

5. Reinstall the Full Feature Software

Even if drivers are up to date, reinstalling the full software package can refresh communication between apps and the printer:

6. Try Printing from Another Browser

  • Open the same Google Doc in Microsoft Edge or Firefox.
  • Attempt printing directly to the OfficeJet from there.

7. Run Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool checks for communication issues and resets printer services:

Let me know how it goes after trying these steps. If the issue persists, I can help explore deeper settings or alternate workflows to keep your printing seamless.
