Hi @Composition,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It sounds like your HP Officejet 4630 printer is having trouble connecting to your new Wi-Fi 7 network after the upgrade from Wi-Fi 5. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and reconnect your printer to the network:
Restart Printer and Network Devices:
- Turn off your HP Officejet 4630 printer, and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your Wi-Fi 7 router.
- After the router has fully rebooted, plug in and turn on your printer.
Reconnect Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Wireless or Network menu.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Choose your Wi-Fi 7 network from the list of available networks and enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
Check Network Compatibility:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi 7 router is set to broadcast in a mode compatible with the printer, such as 2.4 GHz, as many older printers do not support 5 GHz or newer Wi-Fi standards.
- If your router supports dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensure it is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz, and connect the printer to this band.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Officejet 4630 that may improve its compatibility with newer Wi-Fi standards.
- Go to the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and download any available firmware updates. Install the update by following the instructions provided.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @Composition ,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Reconfigure Printer IP Settings:
- If the printer is set to use a static IP address, it may no longer be compatible with the new network settings. Consider setting it to automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP.
- You can usually find this option in the printer’s network settings menu.
Forget and Reconnect the Printer on Windows 10:
- On your Windows 10 computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP Officejet 4630 and click Remove device.
- Click Add a printer or scanner to search for the printer again and reconnect it to the network.
Check Security Settings:
- Ensure that the router’s security settings (like WPA3) are not too advanced for the printer to handle. If necessary, temporarily lower the security to WPA2 to see if the printer can connect.
Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
- Reset the printer’s network settings by accessing the Setup menu on the printer, selecting Network > Restore Network Defaults, and confirming the reset.
- After resetting, try reconnecting the printer to the Wi-Fi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard again.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor on your Windows 10 computer. This tool can help diagnose and fix connectivity issues between your printer and the network.
If your printer still doesn’t connect to the Wi-Fi 7 network after these steps, you may need to contact HP phone support for further assistance or check if there are any specific compatibility issues between the printer and the new router model.
Keep me posted for further assistance
