Hi
I have a 5740 which is set as a remote printer by itself.
Recently I need to use it as a fax & have to disconnect the printer & placed it in a location on the same room connected to a phone line.
The fax was fine but when I placed the printer back to its original location as a remote printer, it was not printing any print tasks that I requested.
Does the relocation of the printer in the same room plugged into a different power outlet cause this issue?
I would appreciate how would one resolve this non-printing issue after the relocation of the printer?
Many thanks for your advice.

Hi @Chrissy_61, Welcome to the HP Community,
I wanted to reach out to help you with the troubles you're having printing from your Officejet 5740 from your Windows 10 system after you had moved the printer. The location should not effect the printing abilities. As that is easily said, perhaps the connection was lost.
I would suggest running the Print and Scan Dr. (a few times if needed), to see if the tool can pick up any connection problems. Let me know the end results and try printing from a few programs afterwards.
Here is a link to access, download and run the tool - Print and Scan Doctor.
Also, if you haven't already, try resetting the printer and restarting the computer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the unit.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the unit.
If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Hit the "Accept as Solution" if we've reached a solution, and the "thumbs up" to say thanks for my help.
I hope to hear from you

Hi Rainbow
Thank you for your reply & advice.
I have run the Print & Scan Dr & it looks to be fine.
I am away for a few days & will be testing it further upon my return when I need to relocate the printer to another place.
I will keep you posted if there are any further issues.
Take care.
