HP Officejet 6700 Premium doesn't recognize my router. It does recognize the rest of my neighborhood. Router is 1 foot from

printer and 3 feet from laptop.

Hi @Pissedoff19,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 6700 Premium is having trouble recognizing your router but can see other networks, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Network Settings

  • SSID Visibility: Ensure your router's SSID (network name) is visible and not hidden. If it’s hidden, the printer won’t be able to find it.
  • Router Frequency: The Officejet 6700 Premium supports 2.4 GHz networks. If your router is dual-band, ensure the 2.4 GHz band is enabled.

2. Restart Devices

  • Power Cycle Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Router: Unplug your router, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and allow it to fully restart.

3. Reconnect to the Network

Access Wireless Settings on Printer:

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
  • Go to Settings and select Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select Your Network: Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list.

Enter Password: If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password.

4. Check for Interference

  • Make sure there are no devices (like microwaves or cordless phones) that might interfere with the Wi-Fi signal between your router and printer.

5. Update Firmware

  • Check if your printer firmware is up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP support website, downloading the latest firmware, and following the instructions for updating.

6. Reset Network Settings

If the above steps don’t work, you may need to reset the printer's network settings:

  1. Access the Control Panel: Go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
  2. Reconnect: After resetting, go through the wireless setup process again.

7. Try a Manual Connection

If automatic connection fails, you can manually enter the SSID and password using the printer's control panel, if the option is available.

8. Check Router Settings

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your router’s firmware is up to date.
  • Security Settings: Check your router’s security settings. Sometimes, specific security settings can block certain devices from connecting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
