I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I switched to a T-Mobile Gateway. T-Mobile instructed me on how to split the router so now I have a 5G and a 2.4G network. The 2.4G is set with WPA/WPA2 and TKIP/AES Encryption. It will not connect to that 2.4 network. I have an ORBI mesh system plugged into the router that is 2.4G set to WPA/WPA2 Personal, don't know the encryption. The printer work fine on that Network.

Hi @Jazzman55,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to your T-Mobile Gateway's 2.4GHz network.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
- Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart both your printer and the T-Mobile Gateway.
- Check Network Settings: Ensure that your T-Mobile Gateway's 2.4GHz network is broadcasting and that the SSID (network name) and password are correctly entered into the printer.
- WiFi Direct: If available, try using WiFi Direct mode on your printer. This allows the printer to create its own WiFi network that your computer can connect to directly, bypassing the T-Mobile Gateway's network.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes updates include fixes for WiFi connectivity issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reset Network Settings: On your printer, you can try resetting the network settings to default and then reconfigure the WiFi connection from scratch.
- Firewall and Security Settings: Check if there are any firewall or security settings on your T-Mobile Gateway that might be blocking the printer from connecting. Adjust these settings if needed.
- Connect via Ethernet: As a temporary workaround, you can connect your printer to the T-Mobile Gateway using an Ethernet cable. This can help ensure the printer is functional while troubleshooting the WiFi connection.

Here is what I have done:
1. Restarted all devices - Didn't solve problem
2. Set up a 2.5 GHz network on T-Mobile Gateway - Printer can't connect to it. (printer needs 2.5)
3. Don't want to use WIFI Direct, then I now have to switch to a different network to print every time
4. Firmware is up to date.
5. Can't find a firewall problem but might be missing finding it
6. the only way it works on wifi is that I have to connect to the mesh wifi extender (connected to the TMobile gateway) that is connected to gateway at 2.5 GHz. that I created.
7. When I had Clink WIFI the printer was always on just the router (not mesh) I we could print anywhere in the house.
Guess that I will have to switch networks every time I print. I think the printer is old and with the new WIFI6 in the Tmobile gateway it can't find the network.
Thanks for trying.
