Please can someone help. I recently moved into new house with new wifi. All other devices link to wireless network perfectly. However my HP officejet 7612 see the network but won't connect. BTw i am on MAC Os ventura 13.6.7
When i go into the XX230V Tp link router settings it shows 2.4ghz / 5ghz and a button that says enable. I haven't touched this as i don't want to create more problems.
I now have effectively two networks - my house one 'bu///////rs' and the other is HP-setup-E3-officejet 7610. The issue then is when i want print i have to select that network to do so. It also means i cannot use airprint etc. When i made contact with my ISP, they claim the issue is to do with the printer and not the wifi as it is working fine. I have also sent through a previous post about 2.4ghz v 5 ghz and have not received a reply. I am unsure if i can change this myself or what may happen if i could. Sorry for not having the same technical knowledge of many others but a clear basic answer is kindly requested Thanks Andy

Unless I am mistaken, the HP-setup-E3-officejet 7610 is the name or SSID of the printer's WiFi direct network.
I recommend you connect the printer to the modem or router and not try to connect directly from the Mac to the Printer.
Reset the printer to get it out of wifi direct mode then connect it to the modem
Click here for network setup using HP Smart but in a different language
You may need to reset the printer:video here
WiFi setup to router: video here
Simple push button or WPS setup is described on page 242 of Users Manual And WiFi direct is described on page 234.
All manuals are here
Printer Reference 7612
Please let me know if this is useful

Thankyou for taking the time to write this. I had already tried every which way of restoring factory defaults etc. In basic terms it sees my main router but will not connect. That is why i wrote about the 2.4ghz/5ghz confusion. As i say i am not too sure. I can connect via the HP network option only, or of course a cable direct. However, my printer needs to be in another room away from the lounge. Any other ideas please ?

Thank you for posting a second time. I lost track of your last post which sometimes happens.
I suspect the problem is the 2.4ghz band. After reading this article.
Log into the modem and change the name (SSID) of one of the bands. Do that printer reset and try to connect.
If using HP Smart I suspect HP Smart is trying to make the printer connect to the 5ghz which it cannot do.
You mentioned that a cable works. One can always use powerline ethernet
there are some restrictions: The powerline adapter cannot be on any surge protected or filtered multiple outlet as the signal is stopped by the filters.
You can ask the ISP to make the names of each band different or you can do it yourself.
I have an Arris modem, yours may be different. This tutorial is helpful. The username might be admin and the password should be printed somewhere on the modem. If not, then use that tutorial. Use a different name for the 2.4 and the 5ghz bands. To keep it simple, use the same password and use only numeric digits such as someone's phone number. When in the router, run the app that finds the channel with the least amount of noise for both bands.

Hi Beemerbiker, so i carefully digested what you suggested and here is what i have had the ISP do. They now have 2.4ghz enabled and a separate 5ghz enabled with slightly different name same password. My phone will link to either no issues. The printer is still refusing to connect. It sees the 2.4Ghz (router) or extender but does not physically connect . I have moved the printer downstairs to the main router no difference. This is so frustrating i have even disabled 5ghz (which it doesn't see) by the way. I wish i could attach the router screen info. I very much appreciate you sticking with me on this as i will not be beaten as they say.

You have a flex system with boosters or repeaters?
The IP address of the printer must be fixed so that it gets an address generated by the main modem / router. Othwise it can be on a subnet and will be difficult to acccess. from a different subnet.
Log into the modem, find the Mac address or IP address of the printer and have the DHCP server make it fixed and part of thes subnet that belongs to the main modem.
ISP's that provider flex services normally explain this or have a commuinity where users can ask how to configure devices attached to the subnet.
