Bought used HP Photosmart 7520 printer but it won’t connect to my wireless network. HP tech support won’t help as printer has reached end of its life cycle so will not tell me how to do factory reset for the printer. It finds my network but tells me I entered incorrect paraphrase but I don’t. Password/phrase on my router so I know it’s correct. Is the WiFi device in the printer bad? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @herbzmann,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Photosmart 7520 printer is having trouble connecting to your wireless network, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

Double-check the Network Password:

  • Make sure you are entering the correct Wi-Fi passphrase. It's case-sensitive, so ensure that you are using the correct capitalization.
  • If possible, try to connect another device to the same wireless network using the same passphrase to confirm that it is correct.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on. This simple step can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Forget and Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network:

  • On the printer, navigate to the Wireless or Network settings.
  • Find the list of available networks and choose your Wi-Fi network.
  • Select the option to forget or delete the network.
  • Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network by entering the passphrase again.

Update Firmware (if possible):

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
  • You may need to connect the printer directly to your computer via USB to perform a firmware update.

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • Since HP support won't provide instructions, you can try searching for the printer's manual or online resources to find out how to perform a factory reset.
  • Typically, there might be a combination of buttons to press or a specific sequence to follow.

Check Wi-Fi Module:

  • If the printer still can't connect, there might be an issue with the printer's Wi-Fi module. Unfortunately, fixing or replacing internal components may not be practical for an end-of-life product.

Use Wired Connection (if possible):

  • As an alternative, consider using a wired connection (USB) if your printer supports it. This bypasses the need for a wireless connection.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the Wi-Fi module in the printer has a hardware problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
