I can connect my HP Photosmart Plus B209a to my laptop with a cable. However, since my router has been updated, I can't connect it wirelessly. The wireless light is on. I installed HP Smart and it says the network information is not supported. I tried the WPS push button on my router, but it either times out or gives me an error. I don't have the CD that installed the printer wirelessly the first time. I would like to be able to print from my Android phone. Is that a possibility? Thank you

Hi @Deb4590,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it must be to lose the wireless connection to your HP Photosmart Plus B209a, especially after a router update. Let’s work through this issue together and explore options for reconnecting your printer wirelessly and enabling mobile printing.
- Does your new router support the 2.4 GHz band, which is required for the HP Photosmart Plus B209a?
- Have you tried resetting the printer’s network settings to start fresh with the new router?
- Is your Android phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network you’re trying to connect the printer to?
Let's try these steps.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults (or similar, depending on the model).
- This clears any old network settings and allows a fresh connection to the new router.
Reconnect Printer Using WPS:
- Press and hold the Wireless Button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking.
- On your router, press the WPS Button within two minutes.
- Wait for the printer to establish a connection. If this fails, proceed to the next step.
Manual Wireless Connection:
- Access the printer’s Wireless Settings Menu and select Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi password carefully. Ensure the network is on the 2.4 GHz band.
Install HP Print Service Plugin on Android:
- On your Android phone, download the HP Print Service Plugin from the Google Play Store.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open a document or photo, tap the share icon, select Print, and choose your HP printer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers on Laptop:
- Download the latest drivers for the HP Photosmart Plus B209a from the HP Support Website.
- Install the drivers and follow the instructions to connect the printer wirelessly.
- During setup, ensure the laptop and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

If the printer still doesn’t connect wirelessly, it’s possible the router settings need to be adjusted (e.g., enabling compatibility for older wireless devices).
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Deb4590,
Thank you for sharing the above information.
Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again.
1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.
2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.
3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
