@Sherrylyn, Hello and welcome to the HP Community!
I'm happy to help you get your HP Deskjet 2540 connected to your Wi-Fi network for wireless printing.

Prepare for Installation

  • Ensure your computer and router are powered on.
  • Connect your computer to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
  • Load paper into the input tray and install ink cartridges.

Restore Wireless Settings on the Printer

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Press and hold the Power button.
  • While holding Power, press the Start Copy Black button twice, then press the Cancel button three times.
  • Release the Power button. The wireless light should start blinking. If not, repeat the steps.

Download and Install HP Software

  • Visit 123.hp.com/DJ2540 and click Install HP Easy Start.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions until you reach the Connection Options screen.
  • Choose Wireless – Make a wireless connection to the printer, then click Next.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
