Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to connect my HP printer to a wireless network, but I keep getting this error:

“Authentication Failed. Authentication Ticket Mismatched, failed authentication.”

Details:

  • Printer: HP LaserJet Pro MFP

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Network: Home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz)

  • Firmware & drivers: Updated to latest version

  • Steps tried: Restarted printer & router, re-entered Wi-Fi password, cleared cache, tried USB setup

The printer fails to connect even though the Wi-Fi is working fine for other devices.

Has anyone experienced this issue or found a reliable solution? Any tips to fix authentication ticket mismatches would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @alicemia,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The "Authentication Ticket Mismatched" error usually indicates a network authentication issue when connecting your HP LaserJet Pro MFP to a wireless network. Here are steps you can take to resolve this error:

Verify Wi-Fi Credentials:

  • Double-check the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password you are entering. Ensure there are no typos, especially in uppercase and lowercase characters.

Network Compatibility:

  • Make sure your printer is connecting to a 2.4 GHz network, as many HP printers do not support 5 GHz networks.

Network Settings:

  • Access your router settings and ensure that MAC address filtering is not enabled. This feature blocks devices not in the approved list from connecting to the network.

Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • Reset the network settings on your printer. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions, or generally, you can reset network settings by touching the Wireless icon on the printer panel, navigating to Settings, and selecting Restore Network Defaults.

Firmware and Driver Update:

  • Confirm that both printer firmware and driver software are up-to-date. You mentioned they are, but double-check for any minor updates that may address this issue.

Router Restart and Configuration:

  • Restart your Wi-Fi router to resolve any temporary network issues.
  • Ensure your router is using WPA or WPA2 security protocol, as these are commonly supported by HP printers.

Reconfigure Wireless Setup:

  • Use the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start to reconfigure your wireless setup, which may offer more streamlined setup solutions.

Factory Reset on Printer:

  • If none of the above solutions work, consider performing a factory reset on the printer which might resolve deep-seated configuration issues. Check the user manual for instructions.

Take care and have an amazing day!
