@Steve--C, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e is experiencing network connectivity issues, both wired and wireless. Since this started about a month ago, it could be due to a firmware update or a hardware issue with the network interface.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Wired Network (Ethernet) Troubleshooting

>Check the Ethernet Cable: Try using a different cable and port on the router.

>Reboot the Printer & Router: Turn off both, wait 5 minutes, then power them back on.

>Manually Set an IP Address:

>>Print a Network Configuration Page (Press Wi-Fi button → SettingsPrint ReportsNetwork Configuration Page).

>>Note down the IP address.

>>Open a browser, enter the IP, and check if the printer's web interface loads.

>>If the IP isn't assigned, manually set a static IP in Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > IPv4.

>Update Printer Firmware:

Go to HP Support and download the latest firmware for your model.

>Disable IPv6: On the printer's web interface, navigate to Network Settings > Advanced and disable IPv6.

2. Wireless (Wi-Fi) Troubleshooting

>Check Signal Strength: Ensure the printer is close to the router.

>Disable Auto Sleep Mode:

Go to Settings > Power Management and disable auto-sleep.

>Manually Assign a Static IP:

On your router settings, reserve a static IP for the printer.

>Change Wi-Fi Channel:

Log in to your router and set the 2.4 GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11.

>Try a Different Wi-Fi Network:

If possible, connect to a mobile hotspot to see if the issue persists.

>Reset Network Settings:

On the printer, go to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
