Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Initially, this problem is common to a lot of users complaining about a WiFi connected printer showing connected on the printer's display but showing offline on a computer connected to the same network.

But here is the twist...My printer has email capabilities (the printer has an email address whereby a document sent via email will print to the printer).

So when my wife tries to print from her computer in the home (both her computer and printer are at home) and calls me to say that her computer shows the printer offline, I tell her to send me the document (I'm overseas - several thousand miles away) and I am successful in printing her document via email.

That shows that the printer is, in fact, online.(otherwise, I could not print from overseas) and that there is glitch within the firmware or software.

HP's diagnostic software is useless; it either cannot detect the printer (from my wife's computer) or it cannot detect the problem.  Windows the same thing.

This happens too frequently for HP to tell me to unplug and then plug in the power (which will solve the problem temporarily until the next offline status to the computers on the network).  There must be a solution among HP's software engineers to a problem that cuts across HP printers and computers OS's.
