I have always been able to print from my iPhone to my HP 5600 series printer. Since our wind storm outage a couple of weeks ago I have not been able to reconnect to my printer using my iPhone. Please help me figure that out.

Hi @CJLA50,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 5600 series printer is no longer connecting to your iPhone after a wind storm outage, it’s likely due to changes in network settings or configurations. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reconnect your iPhone to your HP printer:

1. Verify Printer and iPhone Connection:

  • Printer Status: Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network.

2. Restart Printer and Router:

  • Power Cycle Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Router: Unplug your router, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. This can help resolve network connectivity issues.

3. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi Network:

  • Access Printer Settings: On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi: Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted. Ensure the printer successfully connects to the network.

4. Check Printer’s IP Address:

  • Find IP Address: Print a network configuration page from your printer’s settings menu or check the IP address on the printer’s display panel.
  • Verify Connection: Make sure the IP address displayed matches your network’s configuration.

5. Update HP Smart App or Printer Software:

  • Update App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your iPhone. You can update it from the App Store.
  • Reinstall App: If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app.

6. Reconfigure Printer in HP Smart App:

  • Open HP Smart: Launch the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  • Add Printer: Tap on the “+” icon or “Add Printer” option to search for your printer.
  • Follow Instructions: Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the HP Smart app.

7. Check AirPrint Settings:

  • Ensure AirPrint is Enabled: AirPrint is usually enabled by default, but make sure your printer supports AirPrint and that it is enabled in the printer settings.

8. Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi Network:

  • Forget Network: On your iPhone, go to "Settings" > "Wi-Fi", tap the info icon next to your network, and select "Forget This Network".
  • Reconnect: Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network by selecting it and entering the password.

9. Perform Printer Reset (if needed):

  • Factory Reset: If other methods don’t work, you might need to perform a factory reset on the printer:
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to "Setup" > "Printer Maintenance" > "Restore Defaults" or similar option.
    • After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and reconfigure it in the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
