Hi @Alyista ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP Smart Tank 585 to its Direct WiFi network due to a password issue, here are a few things you can try:
Check the Password: Make sure you're using the exact password provided on the printer status report. Sometimes, there can be a typo or extra spaces that are easy to overlook.
Reset the Printer’s Network Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Wireless menu.
- Select Settings or Network Setup.
- Choose Restore Network Settings. This will reset the network settings on the printer to default.
- After resetting, try connecting to the printer's WiFi network again.
Verify Printer Status Report:
- Print the status report again to ensure you have the most recent password.
- Check if there is a “WiFi Direct” section on the report which shows the correct password.
Update Printer Firmware:Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app on your iOS device.
Manual Setup:
- Try setting up the printer’s WiFi Direct password manually:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Wireless or Network menu.
- Look for WiFi Direct settings.
- Change the password to something simple, like 12345678, and save the settings.
Reconnect to the Network:
- Forget the printer’s network on your iOS device.
- Reconnect by selecting the printer’s network again and entering the new or corrected password.
Check for Interference:
- Ensure that there are no other devices or networks that might be interfering with the connection.
