I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 printer works fine on Windows 11 but HP Smart can't detect it, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Ensure the HP Smart App Is Up to Date HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Go to the Microsoft Store.
- Search for "HP Smart."
- If an update is available, install it and restart the app.
2. Check Printer's Connection
Since the printer works fine in Windows, it may already be connected via USB or Wi-Fi:
- For USB Connection: Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. Then reopen HP Smart.
- For Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the printer is on the same network as your PC.
- Print a Network Configuration Report from the printer's control panel to confirm the network name.
- Verify the PC is connected to the same network.
3. Reinstall the Printer in HP Smart
- Remove the printer from HP Smart:
- Open HP Smart.
- Select the printer (if listed).
- Click Remove Printer.
- Re-add the printer:
- Restart your PC and printer.
- Open HP Smart and click Add Printer.
- Wait for HP Smart to detect the printer.
4. Reset Network Settings (For Wi-Fi Connection Issues) HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network)
If HP Smart still can’t find the printer:
- Reset the printer's network settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:
- Use the printer’s Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect to the network.
- Re-add the printer in HP Smart.
5. Check Windows Firewall and Security Settings
- Open the Windows Security app.
- Navigate to Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
- Ensure the following are allowed through the firewall:
- HP Smart
- Any entries related to HP Printer.
6. Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart
- Uninstall HP Smart:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Apps > Installed apps and search for HP Smart.
- Select it and click Uninstall.
- Reinstall HP Smart:
- Download the latest version of HP Smart from the HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to diagnose and fix connectivity issues.
8. Assign a Static IP Address (Optional)
Sometimes, assigning a static IP to the printer improves connectivity:
- Print a Network Configuration Report to get the printer’s IP address.
- Open a web browser and type the printer’s IP address into the address bar.
- Navigate to Network > IPv4 Configuration and assign a static IP within your router’s range.
