I recently upgraded my PC to a Windows 11 PC. I installed the HP Smart App and every time I launch it, I am required to login to scan or use the printer. I receive a server login error "An error has occurred. The connection timed out due to inactivity or the server is unable to respond. Network connection issue."
My network is working just fine.
I have restored the default printer settings on the device itself.
I have been on here several times to try to resolve the problem.
I can login through the website, but the HP Smart App is where the failure occurs. I have an Android phone and can use the smart app there, but I need to scan to the PC.

Hi @echoscot,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing connectivity issues with the HP Smart App on your Windows 11 PC.
Let's try a few steps to resolve this problem:
Update the HP Smart App: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart App installed. You can update it from the Microsoft Store.
- Open the Microsoft Store app.
- Search for "HP Smart" and check for updates.
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows 11 operating system is fully updated.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any available updates.
Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block the connection. Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software to see if this resolves the issue. If it does, you'll need to configure your firewall or antivirus to allow the HP Smart App.
Reset Network Settings: Resetting the network settings on your PC can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click Network reset.
Clear the Cache: Clear the cache of the HP Smart App.
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Go to Settings.
- Find and select the option to clear cache (if available).
Reinstall the HP Smart App: Uninstall the HP Smart App, restart your PC, and then reinstall the app.
- Right-click the Start button and select Apps and Features.
- Find the HP Smart App in the list, click it, and select Uninstall.
- Restart your PC.
- Reinstall the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store.
Configure Proxy Settings: If you are using a proxy server, ensure that the HP Smart App is configured to use the correct proxy settings.
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Go to Settings and find the network or proxy settings to ensure they are correctly configured.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: This tool can help diagnose and resolve many printing and scanning issues.
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website. HP Print and Scan Doctor
Manually Add the Printer in HP Smart App: Sometimes, manually adding the printer can bypass connectivity issues.
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Click the plus sign (+) to add a printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to manually add your printer.
