Hi @ReginaBurke, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Please try these steps to reconnect your HP Smart Tank 5000 to Wi-Fi:

Restart Everything

  • Restart the printer: Turn it off, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your router: Turn it off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer/phone.

Check Printer’s Wi-Fi Status

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
  • If the Wi-Fi light is blinking, the printer is disconnected.
  • If it's solid, the printer might still be connected.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Using WPS (If your router supports it)

  1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer for about 5 seconds until the light blinks.
  2. Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
  3. Wait for the Wi-Fi light on the printer to stop blinking and stay solid.

Using HP Smart App (Recommended)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Click Set up a new printerWireless Setup.
  3. Follow the instructions to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Reset Printer Network Settings

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi + Cancel (X) buttons for 5 seconds to reset network settings.
  • Try setting up the printer again using the HP Smart app.

5. Check Router Settings

  • Make sure the router is not blocking the printer.
  • Ensure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • If using a mesh network, try temporarily disabling the 5 GHz band and reconnecting.

6. Update Firmware

  • Visit HP Support → Enter your printer model → Download the latest firmware update.

7. Try a USB Connection (If Needed)

  • Connect the printer to your computer via USB.
  • Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (on Windows) to diagnose and fix the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
