Hello,
The wifi of my HP Smart Tank 7006 printer connects to the router only by using the WPS button.
HP Smart can't configure the printer unless a previous connection to the router by WPS has been established.
Once configured, it will print correctly as long as the printer remains on.
After switch off and on again, It will never connect to the router until a new WPS is performed.
Tests without any result:
- Generated different SSID's for 2 ,4 GHZ, and 5 GHz, in order to use 2,4 only for the printer
- Assigned a fixed IP to the printer's MAC address
- HP Smart allows to enter the wifi password to an already configured printer. A second attempt to introduce the password, reveals an empty password field
- The router connects perfectly with all PC's, tablets, telephons, TV sets at home
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Luis

Thanks, Jerry_57,
The problem is now solved.
After my router was replaced, HP Smart couldn't find my HP Smart Tank 7006 unless WPS had been previously pressed. The printer was then configured and could print till the moment it was switched off.
In my opinion, the restore network option with pushbutton "i", 5 seconds, and "i" plus "x" simultaneouly 3 more sec. didn't delete the whole configuration (at least in my machine).
To solve it, I deleted all printers in the system. Then, after WPS, I employed the printer IP in Firefox and selected "Restore Network Settings" from the Settings tab. I had previously executed Restore Factory Defaults, although not sure it was necessary.
I switched on the printer. HP Smart found it (without WPS) and configured it. From that moment, the printer establishes wifi connection when it is powered off and on.
Thanks,
Luis

Hi @lluis66,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It seems you are experiencing difficulty with your HP Smart Tank 7006 printer not retaining the router's password after being turned off. Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:
Verify Network Configuration:
- Ensure your printer and Wi-Fi router are not too far apart.
- Make sure the Wi-Fi network settings (SSID, password) are correct.
Use HP App for Connection:
- Try using the HP app to set up the printer directly rather than solely relying on the WPS method.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device when using HP Smart for the setup process.
Check Firmware and Software Updates:
- Make sure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date, and the HP Smart app is running its latest version.
- Visit HP Software & Driver Downloads to check for any available updates.
Restore Network Settings:
- You can reset or restore the network settings to default and try reconnecting to ensure there are no residual configurations impacting the connection.
Set a Static IP Address:
- If the problem persists, try setting a static IP address for your printer through your router's configuration page. This can help maintain the connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
