Hi @Karen3421
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds frustrating when a new printer goes offline unexpectedly! Here are some steps to get your HP Smart Tank Plus 651 back online:
1. Check Printer Connection Status
- Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
- Look for the IP address under Wireless or Network settings.
- If the IP address is missing, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.
2. Restart Devices in Order
- Turn off your printer, laptop, and router.
- Wait 60 seconds, then turn on the router first.
- Turn on the printer, then the laptop.
3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the Wi-Fi light blinks.
- Press the WPS button on your router for 3 seconds.
- Wait for the Wi-Fi light on the printer to turn solid blue.
4. Check Windows Printer Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on your printer and select Manage.
- Ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
5. Run HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Click Diagnose & Fix to automatically troubleshoot common errors.
6. Reset Printer Network Settings
- Press and hold the Wireless + Cancel buttons for 5 seconds.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using HP Smart.
7. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware update.
- Install the update and restart the printer.
