The HP App does not work properly. Shows my printer is connected, but will not allow me to use functions for the printer.

Keeps reverting to the instant Ink add.

Do you get any error message?

 

Make sure you've the latest version of the HP Smart App installed. Install it from the Mac App Store.

 

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

No difference. 

My iMac is up to date with the latest software.

I removed and reinstalled the HP Smart 5 or 6 times , but to no avail.

The software and firmware is up to date for this printer.

I can use the app for the very first function when I initially open it. However, to use another function immediately after the first??  Forget about it. I have to close the app and reopen, and maybe, just maybe, it might work.

Seems to take a long time to open also.

Root level uninstall : please delete from /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/HP Smart. Then delete HP Smart from the Applications folder and reinstall from the Mac App Store

There is no HP Smart file  in the Users/Username/ Library/App Support on my Mac.

Nothing what so ever !!!!

Do you've any other device where you can try installing the HP Smart App and check if it works?

Other than my I phone, no I do not any other devices.

However, after I checked all of the items that you directed me to in the previous email, I did dump the app once again and reinstalled it.

It worked for two functions, scan and document print, just like it should. When I went to the printer information function, it took a while to load and them it went directly to the instant ink add and it would not load any other functions after that.

Now, if I shut the app down and then return from doing other work on my desktop, it will work for one or two functions and then go to the instant ink add if I try to do something again.

On the app, it shows that my printer is ready and shows the ink levels, However, if I search for my printer in the "Find a Printer" function, it cannot find my printer, even if I enter the address. Hope this might help a bit.

I have, tackled this "HP Smart" APP problem with my desktop again and I believe I have found the (a) problem !!

After going through all my printer settings for the umpteenth time, I noticed that my "WI-FI Direct" setting was on as well as the "Wireless Connection" setting.

I shut down the "WI-FI Direct" and left the "Wireless" on, as it should be, and the app worked properly, after DOUBLE CLICKING on the function icons.

Will see if this is indeed the solution.

Will advise.
