Hi @Julie68m,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble connecting your HP DeskJet printer to a wireless network, try the following troubleshooting steps.

Check Network and Printer Compatibility:

  • Ensure your printer supports wireless connectivity. If unsure, refer to your printer's user manual or HP's website.
  • Position the printer close to the Wi-Fi router to ensure a strong signal.

Printer Network Setup:

  • Use the printer's control panel to start the wireless setup.
  • Navigate to Network Setup or Wireless Settings to find the Wireless Setup Wizard. Follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Verify Wi-Fi Password:

  • Double-check that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive).

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your router, computer, and printer to refresh network settings.

Disable Other Connections:

  • If your printer has Ethernet or USB connections, disconnect them, as they might interfere with wireless setup.

Use HP App:

  • Download and install the HP app on your smartphone or computer.
  • Use the app to detect and connect your printer to the network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware updates. This can usually be done through the HP app or the printer’s control panel.

Check Firewall and Network Settings:

  • Ensure that your network's firewall or security settings are not blocking the printer.
  • Disable any VPNs, as they may interfere with network connections.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Use this utility from HP to diagnose and resolve any connectivity problems. It can be downloaded from the HP Support page.

Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) if Available:

  • If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on the router and the WPS button on your printer within two minutes for an automatic connection.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Reset the printer's network settings to default and attempt the setup process again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
