I have identified the cause of the problem and solved it. The problem first occurred shortly after a power outage while the desktop computer was in use. I wondered if any files needed for communication with the printer had got corrupted. I applied a system restore from before the power outage. This resolved the problem. Thank you for your help.

Hi @Cactusdave74,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to print from the computer
To assist better -
What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
What is the error message on the printer?
Meanwhile, Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity
Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
- Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
- If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
- If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
- If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Print and scan doctor reports no issues, but then the test page fails to print. Wireless Network Test Results gives the error message
'more than one accesspoint/wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network name. if this is not intended your printer may connect to the wrong wireless network. to avoid this change your wireless network name (SSID) to be unique. if you change your network name you will need to configure the SSID on all wireless devices to match your new network SSID. '
Frankly this sounds scary and i dont understand what it means. I have done nothing to have caused this problem if it exists, and as I have said the printer still works fine with my laptop and phone which are both on that same network. It's just the desk top that has lost communication with the printer.

Is the printer set up in a mesh topology?
If yes, This could be a NAT issue which means multiple routers are handing out IP addresses and causing a conflict. Bridge mode means the router acts as purely an access point and not a router. The issue is most likely when you can print at a specific location but not at a different location.
Please contact your network providers for assistance.
Hope this helps!
