My printer was working just fine, but the electric and cable infrastructure are not good here and I often experience power outages and internet outages.  For six weeks or so, I have been unable to reconnect the printer to the internet.  I have followed all tips and recommendations from the HP user information, and also from other on-line sites without resolution.  The "!" light is flashing yellow.  Nothing has changed on any of my other devices in terms of connecting to the internet, just the printer.  Internet is wireless.  I am out of ideas, please help.

@printerhorror, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are trying to connect the printer to the wireless network.

You may use the WPS button to connect the printer. Restart the router and the printer.

Kindly follow the steps mentioned in this document -  Connecting an HP Printer Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

  • Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

  • This printer supports WPA encryption, check if the router is on the same encryption method. If using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT change it to WPA-PSK

You may also refer to - HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network) and HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Use the HP Smart app to print.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you, Kumar0307.  I had found this document on line already, and tried it.  I have moved the printer from 25 feet away from the router to 2 feet away from the router.  The timing did not exceed 15 seconds.  In addition, the instructions for reset to factory setting do not work.  When I press cancel and the wireless button for 5 seconds, there is no response.

What is your next thought?

Update:  I spoke with Spectrum internet and yes, it is a dual-band router and they cannot assign different names.  I am not sure why the printer initially worked, as this router isn't new, but I will be purchasing a new router and hopefully that will solve the problem?
