Old Deskjet 3055a worked well . I changed broadband provider and set up the network to look exactly like the old one. Everything works except this printer. Dropped to 2.4g and WPA2
tried to use WPS to set up, but it failed.
thought it might be the saved network password in the printer, so tried to get into the firmware , tried hp Smart , but it did not recognise the serial number

Hi @Woollike,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the printer still has old wireless settings saved, and the WPS setup did not complete. Based on the HP guidance provided, the best next step is to reconnect the printer to the wireless network by setting it up again, rather than relying on the previously saved settings.
What to try
- Make sure the router is using 2.4 GHz and WPA2, which you already did.
- If WPS fails, use a manual wireless setup method instead of WPS.
- Reconnect the printer to the network so it stores the current router credentials.
- Keep the old computer or previous setup details available in case you need to recover information you may have missed during setup changes.
I hope this will help.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the quick response. I thought that was the case, but I can’t figure out how to make the printer disappear so that I can start again?
hp Smart is useless as it does not recognise my serial number and it even fails on the type name , Deskjet 3055e.
i decided to start fresh with Canon.
thanks again. Bill

Thank you for updating us. We understand how discouraging it can be when the software and HP Smart app don’t recognise your device details, and we respect your decision to move forward with a Canon printer for a fresh start. We appreciate the time you spent working with us, and we’re glad you now have a solution that meets your needs.
