I have two of these printers.  When I connect to WiFi they crash.  It happened to the first one that worked fine for years then the problem started.  Then I bought a refurbished one that worked great for a while, then developed the same problem.  I have restored to default setting and done the hard reset (init).  I updated the firmware to the latest and I am connecting to the 2.4 network as well.  It's driving me crazy.

Hi @crecord1

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP P1415fnw printers crashing when connecting to WiFi, despite efforts to reset them, update the firmware, and connect to the correct network. Here are several steps you can try to further troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check for Interference or Signal Issues

  • Ensure that your 2.4 GHz WiFi signal is stable and has sufficient strength in the area where the printers are located.
  • WiFi interference from other devices could be causing the printers to crash. Try changing the WiFi channel on your router to a less congested one (such as channels 1, 6, or 11).
  • If you have a dual-band router, make sure you're connecting to the 2.4 GHz network (as you’ve mentioned), not the 5 GHz network, which could cause compatibility issues with certain printers.

2. Static IP Address Assignment

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer rather than relying on the router's dynamic IP assignment (DHCP). This can often prevent conflicts and issues with network connectivity.
    • Access your router’s admin page (usually found at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and find the DHCP settings.
    • Assign an IP address to the printer in the range of your router’s IP address range, and then manually set this IP in the printer’s network settings. This way, the printer will always use the same address.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.  I found something causing a conflict.  I disconnected it and the printer connected.
