Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hello, bought a HP2800e printer today. No access to laptops, previous printer was Canon and partner and I could both print wirelessly from mobiles.
6 hours later and cannot get 2nd mobile device to print. What am I doing wrong? Set up an account in my name, partner logging in through that. Won’t even recognise password on his device. Tried deleting apps, restarting printer and WiFi. Ready to scream and cry.

Hi @Gusandbensmum

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you.  I reviewed the post. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.  😊

I understand how frustrating this must feel, but let’s walk through the setup carefully so both mobile devices can print reliably.

Here are the steps to follow:

Confirm the printer is connected to Wi‑Fi

  • On the printer’s control panel, check the wireless icon.
  • If it’s not connected, run the wireless setup again and ensure the printer is on the same Wi‑Fi network as both mobiles.

Install the HP App on each mobile device separately

  • Each person should download and install the HP App on their own phone.
  • Open the app and sign in with their own account credentials. The app does not support multiple users under a single login on different devices.

Add the printer to the second mobile

  • In the HP App, tap the “+” or “Add Printer.”
  • Allow the app to search for printers on the Wi‑Fi network.
  • Select the HP2800e when it appears.
  • If prompted, enter the Wi‑Fi password to complete the connection.

Check permissions and sign‑in details

  • If your partner is trying to log in with your account, that may cause conflicts.
  • It’s best for each person to create their own HP account in the app. This ensures smooth access and avoids password recognition issues.

Test printing from the second mobile

  • Once the printer is added, open a document or photo on the phone.
  • Use the “Print” option and select the HP2800e.
  • Confirm the job is sent successfully.

If the printer doesn’t appear

  • Restart the mobile device and reopen the HP App.
  • Ensure mobile data is off and Wi‑Fi is on, connected to the same network as the printer.
  • Try adding the printer again.

By following these steps, both devices should be able to print wirelessly without needing to share a single account. Each mobile will have its own app setup, but both will connect to the same printer over Wi‑Fi.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

My partner’s phone isn’t recognising the printer- even tried to add it using serial number. I’ve now deleted the app from both phones multiple times, tried to delete the account and have now spent over 10 hours trying to connect.

Think I’m going to cut my loses and walk away - perhaps if I was trying to connect via a laptop or other device this would be a simpler process. Connecting to my iPhone was easy, to partner’s android device has been a very bad experience.

Thanks again

The right decision. I have had the same printer for a while and it only gets worse.

I only print once in a while and every time I have to re-install the printer. Then there is the merry-go-round with the ink, either pay a fortune in a shop, or use the "instant ink" system which sends you (and charges you) for more ink than you could possibly use. Needless to say, you have to use their ink, generic versions are blocked.

The printer has never worked via WiFi and the ultimate block was achieved today when the latest installation of the app now won't connect to the printer via the USB cable, even though Windows verifies tjat it is connected.

Never again!
