I have a new router and network and my 9015 printer won't recognize and connect to it. I have clicked restore network settings and tried the wireless setup wizard and the printer still doesn't recognize the network. I've turned off router, printer and PC and retried and still no connection.

@ddditt1971, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We see you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer not connecting to your new network, especially after seeing error “-5” during setup,
Please follow these steps,
Restore Network Settings
You’ve already tried this, but just to confirm:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings.
- This clears old Wi-Fi credentials.
Reboot All Devices
You’ve done this too, but ensure the sequence:
- Turn off printer, router, and PC.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Turn on router first, wait until it’s fully online.
- Then turn on printer, followed by PC.
Reconnect Using Wireless Setup Wizard
- On the printer’s control panel, go to: Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
- Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully (case-sensitive).
If your network doesn’t appear:
- Ensure it’s on the same network.
- Make sure SSID broadcast is enabled on your router.
Use HP Smart App
- Download or update the HP Smart
- Open the app and click “+” to add a printer.
- Follow the on-screen steps to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.
If you see error “-5”, it may indicate a network timeout or configuration mismatch. Try:
- Temporarily disable firewall or antivirus on your PC.
- Ensure your PC is on the same Wi-Fi network you’re trying to connect the printer to.
Use Wi-Fi Direct (Temporary Workaround)
If Wi-Fi setup fails:
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer: Settings > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Direct > On
- Connect your PC to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network (e.g., HP-Print-xx-9015).
- This allows printing without router connection.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Uninstall existing HP printer software.
- Reinstall using the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 driver page.
Additional Tips
- Ensure your router firmware is up to date.
- Avoid using VPN during setup.
- Try connecting via USB first, then switch to wireless via HP Smart.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I disconnected the printer from HP Smart and it found the printer and tried connecting to the new network but failed to do so. After trying again it exited from the printer setup due to an error listed as "-5",

I strictly performed all the instructions as you stated and successfully connected the printer to the new network so I didn't need to do the extra instructions you suggested as I received no error. I was able to both print and scan afterwards so thank you very much for your help.
