I even moved it closer to the router. I reset the network connection and get it reconnected. It works once or twice then boom loses connection. Anyone have any advice? This is the only device that repeatedly loses connection no matter what. ARGH

I understand your HP printer keeps losing its Wi-Fi connection even after resetting and moving it closer to the router. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Confirm the printer is on the correct Wi-Fi band
Many HP printers work best on 2.4 GHz networks.
If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under one name, the printer may keep dropping off.
Restart the full network in the correct order
Power off the router, printer, and computer.
Turn on the router first, wait 2–3 minutes, then power on the printer and reconnect it.
Assign a manual (static) IP address
Log in to your router and reserve an IP address for the printer.
This prevents the router from changing the printer’s address, which often causes dropouts.
Disable router power-saving or smart Wi-Fi features
Turn off options like “Smart Connect,” “Band Steering,” or “Eco Wi-Fi.”
These features can disconnect devices that appear idle, such as printers.
Update the printer firmware
Use the HP printer software or embedded web page to check for firmware updates.
Firmware updates often fix Wi-Fi stability issues.
Check router security settings
Set Wi-Fi security to WPA2-PSK (AES) if available.
Avoid WPA3-only or mixed legacy modes, which some printers struggle with.
Reduce wireless interference
Keep the printer away from cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, or USB 3.0 hubs.
Even nearby electronics can disrupt the printer’s Wi-Fi radio.
Disable sleep or deep power-save on the printer
In printer settings, set sleep time to the longest option.
Some printers disconnect Wi-Fi when entering deep sleep and fail to reconnect.
Test with a different network
Connect the printer to a mobile hotspot temporarily.
If it stays connected, the issue is almost certainly router configuration, not the printer.
I hope this helps.
