Hi @Lanasea,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
To change the Wi-Fi settings for your HP LaserJet Pro M15w and reset the password, you can use the following steps:
1. Reset the Network Settings on the Printer
First, reset the printer's network settings to ensure it forgets any previous Wi-Fi connections:
Power On the Printer:
- Ensure the printer is powered on.
Reset Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for about 20 seconds until the attention light blinks. This will restore the printer's network settings to default.
2. Connect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network
You can use the HP Smart app on your iPad or iPhone to reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network:
Download HP Smart App:
- If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.
Open HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new printer.
Add a New Printer:
- Tap the Plus icon to add a new printer.
- Follow the prompts to select your printer model.
Connect to Wi-Fi:
- When prompted, the app will search for available printers. Select your HP LaserJet Pro M15w.
- The app will guide you through connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi network name and password when prompted.
Complete Setup:
- Follow the remaining steps in the app to complete the printer setup.
Kindly find the next steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Lanasea,
Please find the next set of steps below.
3. Troubleshoot Password Issues
If the HP Smart app asks for a password for the printer and you don’t remember setting one, you can try the following default options:
Default Password:
- The default Wi-Fi Direct password (if applicable) is typically 12345678 or printed on a label on the printer. Check the documentation or labels on the printer for any password information.
Restore Printer Defaults:
- If resetting the network settings didn’t clear the password, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on performing a full factory reset.
4. Reconnect Using WPS (if available)
If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use it to connect the printer without needing a password:
Activate WPS on Router:
- Press the WPS button on your router.
Activate WPS on Printer:
- Within two minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for about 3 seconds. The wireless light will start blinking.
Establish Connection:
- Wait for the printer to establish a connection with the router. The wireless light should become solid once connected.
5. Using USB for Setup
If you still encounter issues, you can temporarily use a USB cable to set up the Wi-Fi connection:
Connect Printer via USB:
- Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
Open HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer and add the printer using the USB connection.
Configure Wi-Fi:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Remove USB Cable:
- Once the Wi-Fi setup is complete, you can disconnect the USB cable.
By following these steps, you should be able to change the Wi-Fi access for your HP LaserJet Pro M15w and resolve any password-related issues. If you continue to experience difficulties, contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
