We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

The help bot told me to turn everything off and restart. The HP smart said to go to settings and WiFi check the connection on my laptop. I tried both but the printer is still connected to the old network. I have spent 2 hours trying and it’s hopeless . HP ought to have better directions.

@Learner42, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer won’t connect to the new network, especially after trying multiple suggestions. Let’s walk through the correct steps to get your HP ENVY Pro 6400 connected to your new Wi-Fi. This should only take a few minutes:

Option 1: Use HP Smart App (Recommended)

Reset the printer’s network settings:

  • On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds until the Power light blinks. This resets the network settings.

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.

  • If you don’t have it yet, download it from HP Smart - Official Site.

Add your printer:

  • Open the app and click “+” to add a new printer.
  • The app should detect your printer in Setup Mode (thanks to the reset).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.

Option 2: Use the Printer’s Wi-Fi Setup Mode

If you prefer not to use the app:

  1. Reset the network settings as described above.
  2. On your computer or phone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the printer’s temporary Wi-Fi (it will look like HP-Setup-ENVY-6400-series).
  3. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.223.1.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
