Hi @Beleaguered,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Typically, the WPA passphrase for your Wi-Fi network is set by you or your network administrator when you initially set up your Wi-Fi router. If you can't remember it, or if you never set it up, you may need to access your router's settings to retrieve or reset the passphrase. Here's a general guide on how to do it.
- Access your router settings: You need to connect to your router using a computer or mobile device that is already connected to your Wi-Fi network. Open a web browser and type in your router's IP address. Common router IP addresses are 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, but it may vary depending on your router model. If you're not sure, you can usually find this information in your router's manual or by searching online for your router model.
- Login to your router: You'll be prompted to enter a username and password. If you've never changed these, the default credentials are often listed in the router's manual or on a sticker on the router itself. Common default usernames are "admin" or "administrator," and common default passwords are "admin," "password," or blank.
- Locate the Wi-Fi settings: Once logged in, look for the wireless settings or Wi-Fi settings section. The WPA passphrase or Wi-Fi password should be listed there. If you can't find it, look for a section labeled "security," "wireless security," or similar.
- Retrieve or reset the passphrase: If you find the passphrase, you can use it to connect your HP Photosmart 5520 to your Wi-Fi network. If you can't find it, you may have the option to reset it. Be aware that resetting the passphrase will disconnect all devices currently connected to your Wi-Fi network, so you'll need to reconnect them using the new passphrase.
- Connect your printer: Once you have the passphrase, you can use it to connect your HP Photosmart 5520 to your Wi-Fi network. Follow the instructions on the printer's control panel or on the HP website to enter the passphrase and connect to your Wi-Fi network.
If you're unable to access your router settings or if you're uncomfortable making changes to your router configuration, you may want to contact your internet service provider or the manufacturer of your router for assistance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
