Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have a HP 4155e I have given up on using it wirelessly, it wont stay connected with the router sitting on top of it. Everything else runs off this same router just fine,  but NOT this printer.  So I had to run a cord to it, and it still will not print,  the "i" keeps blinking and I cannot get it to stop.  How do I get around this?  I dont want it to run on Wifi.

A blinking Information (i) light on your HP DeskJet 4155e usually means it is waiting for a Wi-Fi connection, confirming a setup, or printing a status page. Press the Information button once to print a report, confirm a wireless connection, or clear the state.

Why is the light blinking?
Depending on how it blinks, your printer might need different actions:

  • Slow White Blink: The printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode waiting for the HP Smart app.
  • Fast White Blink: It is trying to connect to your wireless network.
  • Orange or Flashing with Other Lights: This indicates a printer error, a paper jam, or an ink issue.

How to reset the printer
If the light will not stop blinking or your printer will not work, perform a quick power reset:

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

How can I run this printer without wifi?  I need to be able to print checks on the road, we dont have wifi all the time.  I need to be able to hard wire (cable) it or I need a different printer?

Use Wi-Fi direct.  You can do that at home even if the printer is re-connected to the router.

Get a network report that shows the Wi-Fi direct name (SSID) and the corresponding password.  On your mobile PC or smartphone, use the HP App to "find" the printer and add it.

Do not call any phone numbers revealed in any video below unless it is an HP site.

Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 4152 or this: 4130
Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 25 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router.

When you return home, your mobile device will use wi-fi direct to print and will no longer go through the router to get to the printer.  Other PCs can still print through the router if the printer has not been reset and the router assigns the same old IP address to the printer that it had before you left.

Let me know how it goes
