Hi @Avi-P,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To change the settings of your HP LaserJet 1008w printer from a mobile device, follow these steps.
Using HP Smart App
Install the HP Smart App: Ensure you have the HP Smart app installed on your mobile device. It is available for both Android and iOS.
Connect to Your Printer:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Tap on the '+' icon or "Add Printer" to find your HP LaserJet 1008w printer.
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your mobile device.
Access Printer Settings:
- Once your printer is added, tap on it to open the printer details.
- Look for options like "Printer Settings," "Print Settings," or similar.
Change Settings: Here, you can adjust various settings like paper size, print quality, and more. However, some advanced settings may not be available.
Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
If the HP Smart app does not provide the settings you need, you can access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
Find the Printer's IP Address:
- Print a configuration page from your printer (usually done via the printer’s control panel or button).
- Note down the IP address displayed.
Access EWS:
- Open a web browser on your mobile device.
- Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar and hit enter.
Login to EWS: If prompted, enter the admin username and password. The default is usually blank for the username and "admin" for the password (unless it has been changed).
Change Settings:
- Navigate through the various tabs in the EWS, such as "Network," "Settings," or "Print Quality," to change the desired settings.
- Make any adjustments and click "Apply" or "Save" if necessary.
Note:
- Check Firmware: Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date, as some features may depend on the latest firmware.
- Resetting Settings: If you’re unable to change specific settings, consider performing a factory reset on the printer, but note that this will erase all current configurations.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
