Hi,

a network scanner reports my CLJ MFP identifies itself as NetBIOS: WORKGROUP\MFP

While 'mfp' is the device name configured by me I was not able to find an option to set a workgroup/(NT) domain name within the web UI or the on screen display. As I'm not very familiar with the MicroSoft way of networking I have no clue if this may cause some trouble at some point - but i'd like to change the printers workgroup name into the same name as the other devices in my network are using. How do i manage to do this with HP printers??? I've seen a lot of similar questions here but most of them do either have no answer at all or did not help/resolve the problem and finally recommend to buy another vendors product!?! I can't believe this...

Thanks in advance and

best regards,

  Dirk

Hi Elohi_NR and thanks for your reply!

However I do not understand how disabling unused network services according to your link should configure NetBIOS workgroup settings? If the idea was to disable CIFS/SMB and enable it again to receive some configuration automatically from the network -- my network extended settings do not offer to disable/enable SMB/CIFS/WINS (at least by these names).

I also do not know whether those MicroSoft protocols are used for printing -- or if they are used for browsing network shares to eventually save scanned images on?

Thanks and

best regards,

  Dirk
