HP LaserJet Pro M12w
macOS 12.0 Monterey

It seems that this is not possible. I have the M12w LaserJet pro printer. It does NOT have an LED screen. Is there any way to connect it to WiFi without a WPS button on the router? All the answers I've found require the LED screen (which I don't have), or a WPS button on  a router (which I don't have). I have also tried using my iPhone hotspot with no success.

I've spent the entire day scouring the internet. If it isn't possible, please someone just say "can't be done".

Thanks

Hi @HaveAPepsi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro M12w printer does not have a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button, you can still connect it to your Wi-Fi network using an alternative method. Follow the steps below to connect the printer to Wi-Fi without WPS:

Prepare for Setup:

  • Make sure your Wi-Fi network is up and running.
  • Keep your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password handy.

Printer Setup Mode:

  • Turn on the HP LaserJet Pro M12w printer.
  • Check if the printer's Wi-Fi LED or icon is blinking, indicating that it is in setup mode.

Access the Printer's Network Setup:

  • On your computer or mobile device, open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  • Look for and connect to the network name that corresponds to your printer. The network name should include "HP-Setup" followed by some alphanumeric characters.

Configure Printer Settings:

  • Once connected to the "HP-Setup" network, open a web browser on your computer or mobile device.
  • In the address bar, type the following address: http://192.168.223.1 and press Enter. This will open the printer's web configuration page.

Configure Wi-Fi Settings:

  • On the web configuration page, look for the "Wireless" or "Network" settings section.
  • Select the option to set up a new wireless network connection or join an existing network.
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
  • Save the settings, and the printer will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Return to Your Regular Wi-Fi Network:

  • After the printer successfully connects to your Wi-Fi network, it will restart and switch to the regular network mode.
  • On your computer or mobile device, disconnect from the "HP-Setup" network and reconnect to your usual Wi-Fi network.

Test the Connection:

  • Print a test page or any document to verify that the printer is now connected to your Wi-Fi network.

That's it! Your HP LaserJet Pro M12w printer should now be connected to your Wi-Fi network without using the WPS button.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
