Hi @_Ashley1-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Connecting your printer to Wi-Fi typically involves using the printer's control panel or software to find and connect to your wireless network. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you connect your printer to Wi-Fi:

1. Prepare Your Printer and Network

Ensure Printer is Powered On:

  • Make sure your printer is turned on and ready.

Check Your Wi-Fi Network:

  • Ensure you have the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

2. Connect Printer Using the Control Panel

For HP Printers with a Touchscreen:

Access Wireless Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup (gear icon) > Network Setup or Wireless Settings.

Select Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard from the menu. This will search for available Wi-Fi networks.

Choose Your Network:

  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.

Enter Network Password:

  • Enter your Wi-Fi network password using the on-screen keyboard and confirm.

Connect to Network:

  • The printer will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, a confirmation message should appear.

Print Wireless Test Report (Optional):

  • You can print a wireless test report to confirm the connection status. This option is often available under Setup > Reports or Network Setup.

For HP Printers Without a Touchscreen:

Use the Wireless Button:

  • If your printer has a wireless button (often a button with a wireless symbol), press and hold it for a few seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.

Connect Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  • If your router supports WPS, you can connect your printer using this method:
    • Press the WPS button on your router.
    • Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your printer (or the wireless button if it doesn’t have a specific WPS button).

3. Connect Printer Using HP Smart App

Download HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app from the HP Smart website or your device’s app store (available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS).

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new printer.

Follow Setup Instructions:

  • The app will guide you through the process of connecting your printer to Wi-Fi. It will typically involve selecting your Wi-Fi network and entering the password.

4. Connect Printer Using a Web Browser (for Network Printers)

Obtain Printer’s IP Address:

  • Print a network configuration page from your printer’s control panel to find its IP address (usually found under Network Setup or Reports).

Enter IP Address in Browser:

  • Open a web browser on your computer and type the IP address of the printer into the address bar. This will open the printer’s web interface.

Access Wireless Settings:

  • Navigate to the wireless settings section in the web interface and select your Wi-Fi network. Enter the network password and save the settings.

5. Test the Connection

Print a Test Page:

  • After connecting, print a test page to ensure the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the wireless light on the printer is solid (not blinking), indicating a stable connection.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Ensure Router Compatibility:

  • Make sure your router is compatible with the printer and supports the frequency band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) required by the printer.

Check Network Range:

  • Ensure that the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi network and not too far from the router.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer, router, and computer if you encounter issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date by checking the HP Support website for any available updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
